Thank you, Singapore
Marina Bay
Wrapping up a part-time position in Singapore this weekend. I have been 50% with Temasek Holdings since April 1, 2025. My mission has been four fold.
- Assist Temasek portfolio companies (TPCs) with robotics and automation. We designed a more efficient strategy for turn-over of aircrafts, a methods for drone inspection of aircrafts, a standard architecture for autonomous land robot systems, considered strategies for sales outside of Singapore.
- Engaged with a broad range of agencies in Singapore - A-Star, NRP, NCSS,… and also many educational institutions - SUSS, SMU, NUS, NTU, … about the use of AI, which is a hot topic in Singapore.
- Engaged with a variety of R&D programs and agencies. Had the privilege of meeting the president of Singapore, twice for in-depth discussions about education, inclusive strategies for growth.
- Managed to also devote time to a global roadmap for robotics. How do different eco-systems and societal factors (demographics, education, …) influence the conditions for use and development of AI and Robotics? What would I do in Europe, US, Asia? What are the most pressing research and technology challenges. The two roadmap documents will be published April/May as I finalize them. The documents are entirely mine.
I have learned a lot in Singapore. Extremely smart and well-educated people. The amount of resources is impressive. I have very much enjoyed learning from many of the smart people here. Time to return to San Diego and think about what I am going to do next.
